Red epic M
With films such as The Hobbit and Spiderman under (or almost
under) its belt and a 50-model order in the bag from James
Cameron, video professionals are no doubt “Red” with envy.
The Red Epic-M uses a 5K Mysterion image sensor capable
of recording 14MP frames at up to 120fps. In keeping with
the company’s modular product offering, the Epic “brain” is
configurable with a range of add-ons, including lenses, battery
packs, memory modules, handles and mounts. An Epic-M
package ships with a 5-inch touch screen display, a side SSD
module with four 128GB SSD cards, four REDVolt batteries,
a titanium PL mount, the Bomb electronic Viewfinder, and a
foam case for - wait for it - $58,000. If it makes you feel any
better, Epic Ms are built by hand, so you know someone is
really working for that money.
