Lighting for the Filming Photographer
Adrien Broom is making a book...and a movie.
It’s working title is The Color Project. It explores
color––white, each color of the spectrum, then
black––as seen through the eyes of a young girl
who wakes to a different world each morning.

Adrien and her crew take up to a week to build
her elaborate sets, then shoot in a single day.
“We capture still and motion at the same time.
Cameras are rolling as I’m taking pictures. We
don’t relight; it only happens once.”
At first she used flash, but that couldn’t work.
A friend told her about K5600’s Jokers. She’s
now halfway through, using our light all the time.
Adrien’s talent and Jokers are resulting in the
otherworldly Color Project.
