A sea kayaker paddles along the melting pack ice
on the Lake Superior shoreline of Michigan’s Upper
Peninsula in March 2012. Winter storms build up
massive deposits of blue-green ice that can often
be found well into spring.
To create this portrait of climber Brittany Griffith, I
attached my camera to the end of a 24-foot pole.
She is climbing Mr. Clean, a five-pitch route up the
multi-faceted columns of Devils Tower, Wyoming.
