pieces of paper detailing trips family members took before she was born, lorena
guillén vaschetti decided to re-photograph the slides by placing them on a light table,
but altered them by playing with the depth of field, focus and other elemetns. she
made the images using high-tech digital technology in order to underline the distance
in time, technology and concept between one generation and the other.

Outcast: The Repressed People of Asia demonstrates everyday
life for “dalits”—the untouchables of india, Pakistan, Nepal and
bangladesh. making up one-fifth of the indian population, they are
regarded as unclean and therefore have no possibilities in society.
the caste class is inherited through family lines, despite the fact
that the system was declared illegal 50 years ago.

Fieldwork explores the dialectics of nature and culture in
both artistic and scientific contexts. since 1997, Finnish
photographer sanna Kannisto has spent several months a
year living alongside biologists in the rainforests of Peru,
brazil, French guiana and Costa rica. adopting elements of her companions’ scientific
methods and concepts, she developed her own form of visual research, extending her
depictions of the flora and fauna beyond the confines of the natural sciences.
