Contemporary photographers have to move, shift, adapt and progress. This month I encourage you to check out our new digital products and our wonderful new Membership offers. On the digital front, we now have apps for PDN, Rangefinder and PIX, and we are developing apps for Emerging Photographer, AfterCapture, PDNedu and our trade shows. Now you can access our world-class photography publications and expos on the go! We also have a beautiful app for our PhotoServe portfolio business and more and more creatives are using this targeted tool to hire photographers.

Our Membership packages are also not to be missed. In the first month alone we’ve had almost 500 photographers join. Spring is here so I want to talk a little bit about the idea of sowing seeds that will pay off down the road. The principle holds true in photography as well as in the garden. By the time you read this, we will have just finished WPPI in Las Vegas—the second event produced as a part of The Nielsen Photo Group. If you were there, thanks for coming! We’re so proud to be associated with this event and I trust you found it worth your valuable time and expense. If you haven’t been before, and you are interested in portrait or wedding photography, it’s not too early to save the date. The next WPPI will be held March 7-14, 2013. You’ll never have the time if you don’t make the time, so make the time now!

A little sooner on the calendar and maybe a little closer to home, look for WPPI U On the Road. We’ve secured a 1967 Volkswagen Microbus and have loaded it with the most prominent names in photography. We’ll be driving to Nashville, Miami and Seattle starting this summer. (OK, we don’t really have a bus, but you get the idea.) Keep an eye out for exact dates coming soon.

If you’re into outdoor photography, block off August 1-4 and make plans to get to Salt Lake City for our second Outdoor Photo Expo. We’ll have hands-on demos, seminars, a two-day expo and then to cap if off, you’ll have access to the amazing Outdoor Retailer Expo on August 5. It will be a fun and informative week.

We’ll end the year with PhotoPlus Expo, October 25-27 at the Javits Center in New York City. PhotoPlus features over 100 exciting seminars, 300 exhibitors, new products and more. There will be additional information coming soon about PhotoPlus and all of our Nielsen Photo Group events here in PDN and on PDNOnline.com.
