I mentioned in one of my earlier letters that one of the
great perks of my role at the Nielsen Photo Group has
been meeting talented photographers from all over the
world. This month, I’d like to remind you of the benefits
the Nielsen Photo Group gives back to photographers.
When you become a member of the Nielsen Photo
Group, you become a member of one of the most elite
photo communities in the world—one backed with industry experience that includes award-winning editors
reporting from our publications PDN and Rangefinder, insight gained
from our production of top-notch photography competitions, seminars
and workshop programs. We also draw from our experience with trade
shows that exhibit the newest photo equipment. PDN, PhotoServe, WPPI,
Rangefinder, PhotoPlus Expo and The Outdoor Photo Expo all present
an array of services on multiple platforms—print, online, digital, mobile
and face-to-face to help the professional photographer in any situation.
You can take advantage of our expertise with any one of our Nielsen
Photo Group memberships. Enjoy benefits with our Basic, Elite or
Premium membership packages, which are designed to fit any budget.
All memberships include PDN and Rangefinder magazine subscriptions,
industry discounts and lower entry fees for our WPPI, Rangefinder and
PDN contests, opportunities to display and have work promoted editorially on our online portfolio site PhotoServe.com and special admission rates to our 2012 trade shows (see the opposite page for details).
Join us as we continue to forge ahead on new projects, technologies, partnerships and learning experiences for the professional photography community. The best benefit of all is that the Nielsen Photo
Group is here to support your efforts and talent. Our mission is to help
you succeed. As always, feel free to call, write or e-mail me with your
comments.

Did you get a chance to swing by PhotoPlus?
Over 20,000 of you did! I’d love to hear what
you liked and what you didn’t like about the
2011 expo. I don’t need to tell you how quickly the photography industry is changing and
evolving. We’re doing our best to keep pace
and hopefully even stay at least one step
ahead, so your feedback is important. My
email is below-feel free to drop me a line.
My guess is that most of you did attend and that you saw
more than a few new products, services, accessories and gadgets that you thought were pretty cool. Hopefully you picked
up a tip or two, ran into an old friend or even made some
new acquaintances. But there is another great reason to attend that we don’t talk about nearly enough. At PhotoPlus
we are proud to partner with ten different photography-related nonprofit organizations, including Rehabilitation
Through Photography, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, Photo
Philanthropy, Professional Women Photographers, and many
others. If you missed them, or missed the show, you can
find out more about these great causes by visiting the list
of exhibitors at www.photoplusexpo.com. The holidays are
just around the corner—the season of giving back—so I can’t
think of a better time to take a minute to learn more about
how some people are using the power of photography to
help those in need. I know they’d be grateful for your time.
And all of us at the Nielsen Photo Group are grateful for your
continued support of our magazines, trade shows and digital
properties. We are dedicated to supporting the photography
industry this season and for many years to come.
